Do You Remember Why You Joined YL?
Over the next couple of days – I want to touch a little bit on the big reasons WHY people JOIN Young Living -
… and how that reason is directly tied to WHY most MLM training programs won’t work for building a Young Living Business.
First I want to ask you if you can remember what made YOU decide to join Young Living in the very first place… and then what made you decide to pursue it as a business? Please, go ahead and post your responses down below. I’m collecting responses from people all over Young Living.
So let’s share with the community and with each other the REAL reason why we joined Young Living. I’ll start with mine -
I used Young Living to save my horse. I was desperate for a cure for him – anything. I tried everything – nothing worked. I usually steered clear of anything MLM or network marketing related – I did not like mlm. But I was convinced by a friend to do it. In fact she signed me up without really explaining anything about the mlm side of things, she just begged me to try the product. I did – and I was BLOWN away. Completely blown away.
A short time later – about four months later, I started using them for my own ailments.
Why did you join Young Living?

Before I started using therapeutic essential oils, I had a car accident that left me in such pain that I couldn’t even sit down, or lift my young son, without being in significant pain. I was crabby, achy and on pain meds. The doctors had given up on me after trying every therapy imaginable, but nothing seemed to make much difference. I thought I’d have to be like that for the rest of my life.
Then one day a message therapist applied therapist essential oils on me and almost right away my pain disappeared. I was able to walk and sit without pain, each time my pain flaired up, I rubbed some on and within minutes, it disappeared. After a few months, I was completely pain free. I could pick up my son and enjoy playing with him. I could walk and sit down for a long time enjoyably. Life was fun again! I’ve been free of all prescription drugs for over 6 years. Thank you Young Living for giving me a new, vibrant life! I am grateful.
I got involved with Young Living over 12 years ago. I had been in another MLM and was pretty disgusted with it. I was approached from the product end with oils that might help lift me out of depression. I was actually contemplating suicide at the time. It was the Abundance oil blend that changed my life. I thought, If I can feel better in minutes with a drop of oil, this is something people should be told about. I have been sharing ever since.
I found Young Living oils as a way to help my Mom with serve pain. My Mom had severe osteoporosis, so severe that she had 6 spontaneous fractures in her back within one year. I was looking for something that would help provide relieve, or at least minimize the severe pain spikes. The oils helped and were used in conjunction with other pain medication. I also used the oils to help her with digestive and anxiety issues.
Seeing the results she was getting, and still feeling a bit like a “doubting Thomas”, I used the oils on myself, my husband and co-workers until I had enough experience to say, “Yes these oils work all the time.”
After several years of using the products, I decided to begin building my business with Young Living by sharing with others my knowledge of the oils.
I joined YL initially because I thought that using the oils would help uplift my spirit. I also read under Peace & Caliming, “Great for hard to manage children.”…my husband wanted me to get a gallon of it. Our 3/12 year old son did not sleep! So after the third night of using P & C he was asleep in 5 minutes! Right then I knew I had to make the oils part of our lives. Using Joy oil for myself, on an especially ‘irritable’ day made me realize how powerful they were and it was then that I knew I had to share these products with others. My results were just too good to keep it to myself!
I joined Young Living because of the quality of the essential oils. I had been using various other brands and when I heard of the care and quality that goes into these products I was itrigued. When I tried them I was impressed with the depth and clarity of the oils – the scents were intense and much stronger than the others I had been using. I am continually convinced of their strength and purity.
I started thinking of making YL a business when I heard that others had done so well. When I lost my job in September 2008, I decided to try to make a real go of it. Now I’m looking for guidance on how to become successful at it.
I joined Young Living when I heard the Missing Link tape and realized how essential oils could work from a perspective that counts – the integration of mind, body, spirit and emotion. There is nothing else that immediately works with our emotions to heal our body.
Long before that time, I had been studying metaphysics and fully understood that we cannot have an illness without first having the thought that creates the illness. Essential oils, I realized, were a break-through because they could support true healing.
I joined Young Living to be able to purchase the products wholesale for myself. I loved using the products for almost 8 years before becoming a distributor. After participating in a Raindrop Technique class, I realized it just did not make sense for me to keep resisting the idea of ‘joining an MLM.’
Of course, once I was a distributor and began learning more about the company (not just the products), I was proud that I had made the decision.
It was 3 more months following my sign-up that I decided that I would intentionally develop my Young Living distributorship business. And, I have been confirmed in my decision every day since!

I used Young Living because I was sensitive to synthetic scents and it was so nice to find pure oils that I didn’t have a reaction to. Even when I don’t like a YLEO, it still doesn’t annoy me like the synthetic fragrances. Then I started sharing the oils with friends because my husband and I like them so much. I had never joined any other MLM organization before, but felt that this was different because the products are so wonderful and the focus was on quality.
I was searching for aromatic essential oils when I stumbled upon the Young Living opportunity. At first I was skeptical because it was an MLM company, but the minimum annual purchases were low enough for me to take the gamble.
The quality of the Young Living oils, many pure enough to be used internally, far surpassed my expectations. I became a distributor (#994112) and placed my first order. Within 2 weeks, I had placed another large order.
The fact that these oils are pure enough I could also incorporate them into my dog & horse training was an added perk. Once I saw how powerful the YLEO were with the animals I had in for training, I knew I had found the exact company and quality I had been searching for.
Since signing on about 18 months ago, and using the YL products to clean my home and kennel, and the using the personal care products and oils/supplements daily, we have all been healthier.
I went to a lecture through the Holistic Mom’s group about essential oils that I really had no interest in. I was just going because I had paid my membership for the year and didn’t want to miss anything.
I thought EO’s were foofy. That was until the speaker started talking. Everything she said rang true with me and made sense.
My grandfather was very ill and I bought several things to try to help him. His progress was amazing.
I have fallen in love with the products and the company.
i am interested, really, in the oils for my own personal use, and sharing what works w/close friends.
i am actually not interested in the business aspect of it all at this time.
Have used alternative’s to allopathic meds for quite a while. Homeopathy, Bach essences,reiki, EFT, herbs and aromatherapy. So my transition to Young Living was quite natural- I wanted the best!
SSitting in class working on my Masters degree the student next to me had a migraine headache. The instructor offered her peppermint oil from Young Living to rub on her temples. The smell was so strong I went to her and asked if I could see the bottle and where she got it. I had never smelled a peppermint oil so fragrant. Went home did some research and decided that from that day forward I would only use Young Living products. that was over two years ago and I use my oils every day for what ever crops up. I LOVE THEM!

I joined Young Living Because of my different issues of my health. Over time on applications of using the Young Living Products & Oils I started to see results and wanted to continued without the aid of prescription drugs. I love the quality and intergrity of Young Living’s standards and standing behind a company and the research that is being done on a continued basis will make the company shine and letting the products speak for themselves. One cannot say that for many other Essential Oils Companies. I will continued to speak highly of Young Lving and their Products and share them as often as I can.

I joined young living about 9 years ago just mostly out of curiosity. Been hooked ever since.
I was looking to do something different with my life, as working corporate in a manufacturing plant was no longer satisfying. After being invited to a friends house to learn about alternative therapies, I started my journey with Young Living Oils. I used the products myself first to make sure I could get behind them. After a few months I started building my business and was able to replace my full time income in short order.
At first I bought retail, for my personal use, not knowing about joining. I loved the oils, they muscle test clear and helped my clients…healer, energy body worker, seminars, while in the USA. I had used other essential oils, but none that could compare to these. It was during a two year stay in Australia that I learned about the business side, and met Gary and others there and in Equador who opened a whole new world of Young Living to me….by sharing with others checks came in the mail…once back in the USA I thought to continue that into a business…Well, it was clear to get beyond hundreds a month I needed more information. 1990, I was invited to a meeting to hear Dr. Gary Young speak on essential oils. At that time I was a health food owner and wanting to find ways to have an edge on the competition. I was amazed at the sincerity in Dr. Young wanting to help individuals with health problems and how important is was to have quality and purity in our products and he was just pioneering in the essential oil research. I joined at the next meeting which was a couple of weeks later.
The reason I joined Young Living was to have access to quality natural product to use in maintaining my health and that of my family. I have a full time job in the health care industry, and am not looking for another job, and I don’t “sell”. I do share with others what I feel are quality non-drug options for improving your health.
Of course I remember why I joined Young Living! I had been living with asthma and allergies for over 20 years. I was on medication, injections, inhalors when I was introduced to a Raindrop class by Norma Matsuoka. My immediate upline quit, but Norma has remained a friend and mentor to this day, 9 years later.
After 6 months of going through three sets of cleansing trio and using RC, Raven, frankinscense, one day I realized that I didn’t need all that medication any more. I slowly cut them down and now to-day, I am no medication whatsoever!
I always say that even if I don’t make a cent, I wil be using these oils the rest of my life!
I first heard Gary Young speak in Dallas in Feb. 1997. I was cajoled into going on a cold rainy night by a friend who had heard him speak at a wellness expo the year before.
He started out with the statement, “Dried herbs are 97% dead.” I immediately thought (with my figurative hackles up!), “You are just saying that because you want me to buy your oils!” right then I heard a voice that said, “But what if he is right??!!” This thought hit me right at the core. I said a quick prayer, “Heavenly Father am I supposed to listen to this man?” From head to toe I felt the spirit tell me “YES!!”
I listened and my life has never been the same. 3 years after that experience the oils, along with blessings, prayers and love saved my 3 month early baby from a life of cerebral palsy, brain damage and perhaps even from being a vegetable.
I started sharing my amazing essential oil experiences with people and that is how and why I decided to do the business.
I joined in 96 after the company I had been with was not available in my local. My upline came to do a workshop in Feng Shui and had the YoungLiving oils. I signed up then and began to use them in my massage business. These oil are powerful and my clients have benefited greatly from my use of these oils. It was not until about 4 years ago I decided to to it as a business and now I’m at Executive level. All that changed was I decided to do it as a business my sharing technique hasn’t changed just my intent.
I joined Young Living because I was raised by parents who had us lay our infected ear on a piece of toast covered by a dry cloth so the yeast could draw out the ear infection. We also got long cooking rice if we had diarrhea which usually helped. The Young Living Essential Oils seemed like a good match for that. I wanted to take advantage if the reduced price. When I saw how the oils helped people, I had to tell others about it to let them know that there are health alternatives out there. Now that I am retired, it seems like this business was a natural fit.
I listened to a Missing Link CD and believed what Gary said. I wanted to try the products to see if they could help my husband, who had been in a horrific car accident. They did. Can’t get enough of Young Living…
It was 1996. I was looking for a solution for my 2 1/2 years old youngest son’s skin problem, a bad rash he have had since he was a couple months old. We just moved to a new city and didn’t want to start again shopping around for a (natural) doctor. So, I asked my Heavenly Parent to send the solution through the mail… and started watching the mail. In an advertising card deck for homeschoolers one particular card attracted my attention: “The Missing Link audio-tape”. I ordered the tape, listened to it, loved it, ordered a couple products, and the Lord behold, one ointment made the 2 years old rash disappear.
I was aware it was a MLM company. I have been in a MLM for 4 or 5 years without making any money. So, the business side of Young Living was a no no. I still loved the concept of MLM but had not figure out why I had not been able to succeed.
Then, over the years, Young Living had become our doctor and our health insurance (touch wood!). I came to swear by those oils. A couple years ago, I needed to choose a way to make money (to support the volunteer work I was involved with full time). Of course, YL was the obvious choice, but my confidence in MLM had not changed. In 2007, a friend asked me to please attend with her the YL convention in Washington DC. She had tried to do the business before and wanted to start again. To encourage her, I went … she ended up not going. BUT in DC, Dani Johnson was there! In one of her talk Dani showed me, in flying colors, why I had not been able to break through in my first MLM venture. I was flabbergasted! … I had found my business! AND I HAD SOME LEARNING TO DO! I realized that I needed to attend the MLM school. For the last 16 months I have learned and practice, learned and practice, and have also turned in circles, and learned more, from my upline and different MLM leaders … with many breakthroughs but still with only drops of financial result … I have many times wish for a YOUNG LIVING SYSTEM. I joined YL 3 years ago with the intent of trying alternative therpaies to combat several health challenges that were bothering me- allergies, weight gain, depression, and chronic headaches. I also wanted to support my immune system better to stay healthier during the winter months as I was always plagued by bad colds and bronchitis around the holidays. I was astounded at how well the oils worked and one by one, i have managed to eliminate all of my health challenges and I continue to work on weight control, which is also improving.
Recently I was laid off from my corporate sales job after 15 years. I chose to pursue YL as a business after having so much success with the products for myself, children and husband. I am finally enjoying my job because I am so passionate about these products. It doesn’t feel like selling since once someone experiences the immediate effects they want to learn more.
It’s infinitely more fulfilling to help others achieve health and wellness rather than struggle in the corporate environment.I am so happy with my decision and will never look back.

I joined Young Living 12 years ago to get oils for my immediate and painful health problem. After a few months the problem was gone and I had shared the product with a few friends. I joined to use the product with no intention to do the business. After a few years the thought occured to me that if I was to put some time into the business I could grow my checks. This has happened and I have moved up in the company but I want more. This is where you come in. I am looking forward with anticipation and joy at things to come as the lessons progress.
I was taking an equine alternative therapies class about 7 years ago, and one small part of that was learning raindrop technique, so I was signed up by the teacher automatically as part of the class!
I had previously heard about the company by someone (else) sending me a missing link tape and was very interested anyway, but never did anything about it. I was involved in another network marketing co at the time. Little by little I started using the oils on myself and over the years became “hooked!”
Why did I decide to pursue this as a business? What got my attention was when I realized the potential of the team distributor bonus! What’s been lacking for me is a training and real support system. THANK YOU Isis!! I’ve been blown away so far by your training…and we’ve only just begun!

The German in me wanted the best price! As I clean out my body, I only want to use the purest, best products…that would be Young Living.
I am a registered nurse and see how medications just make people sicker. I knew there had to be a better way and didn’t know what I was looking for until I found Young Living at a health fair at our local high school. I don’t have any major health problems nor did my family, I just wanted to prevent health problems and to keep off pharmaceutical medications. I’ve found major benefits along the way.
When I first learned about YL was at a canine myotherapy class I was taking and my instructor signed me up. I had not intention of doing it as a business then and really had no idea about the oils at all. Within the last several years I was using them on my dogs with great success and have now begun sharing them more so with close friends and others to help them with illnesses or injuries they have suffered. Slowly I hope to be able to grow this business and replace my current job situation.
I originally joined YL because I was looking for the absolute best essential oils to use for my dog grooming practice and for the grooming school I was teaching at. I wanted to be able to create my own rinses, ear washes, etc, using therapeutic grade essential oils. I wanted to have the ability to customize my grooming for different types of skin and coat problems. I always heard YL had the “real” essential oils that worked and I only wanted the best for the animals in my care. It turned out I started to use it more and more for myself and my family as I was learning more about their uses. I never even considered the business opportunity until about a year later after more people were always asking me to try my oils or to order for them.
I joined YL because someone gave me samples of her “jet lag ” oils . After a 50 hour journey , I arrived home alert, no muscle cramps, no jet lag!I was amazed.
A couple of months later,a health issue became more acute and I was scheduled for a hospital visit in 3 months time with a full anaesthetic involved. I turned to YL about 2 years ago with the intent to heal.I began to feel better in about 4 weeks . Three days before the surgery ,a new scan showed everything was back to normal and the “blockage” was gone.I felt so blessed on that wonderful day.
I joined Young Living because I found what I was looking for, the purest essential oils. It took me about 8 years to find them. When I began my search, YL wasn’t even in business yet.
My search started because I was fed-up with so-called natural household cleaning products and nasty air fresheners – I knew there had to be a much better solution than what was available at the health food store. At the start, I didn’t even know what an essential oil was – I found out when a book on essential oils caught my eye. I bought it.
When I got home I immediately started reading the book and there was mentioned essential oils that could be used for cooking and internal use – those are the oils I wanted!
This happened before home computers, so I spent many hours on the phone calling any company that I could find that had anything to do with aromatherapy and essential oils. I found a company, but you could not ingest their oils, still they were the best I could find at the time so I bought a bunch of them to make my own household cleaners and air fresheners.
Then, about 8 years later, YL came to me. I knew enough about essential oils at the time to know the woman knew what she was talking about. When she began passing her bottles of oils around the room I knew immediately that these WERE the oils I had been searching for so many years.
I placed a huge order and when my YL oils arrived I opened some of the bottles to compare them with the oils I had been using – the difference was like night and day. The oils I had been using went straight into the trash… now I had the REAL DEAL in the palms of my hands!
I was introduced to an oil by a friend. I had at least 4 times a year Bronchitis. I let her know that I was not interested in pushing products just because I want to use this one oil. She said to me I should just try it out and give it some time to work. I did try it for 4 months, just to find out that I did very well on this oil and I have not stopped until now using this oil. Along the way I signed up as a distributor and during the past few years I have enjoyed giving Minispa’s, MRSA meetings, attending Expo’s and learning the Raindrop Technique. I have family in Germany and lately they have tried to pick up some of the tips I have given due to my own experience with several sicknesses with my husband. We can not imagine living without the oils anymore. I only have to learn to deal better with my downline through better information, being more motivating and of better help with meeting their needs. That is why I have reached out to this program.
I joined Young Living as a distributor and upon using my first two oils, Believe and White Angelica, it became crystal clear to me that the benefits of using these oils would be long lasting. I want to help people with their health issues. I became my best customer, as I cannot ethically endorse what I don’t believe has worked for me. At first, I thought I can earn money doing this. The business aspect has not been easy for me. I am, however, sharing myself more with people who I think would be interested in hearing what I have to share.
Now, it’s my intention to earn money while sharing these oils and YL products. Also, I have experienced near perfect health, no colds, flu, etc. for over two years.
I joined Young Living after a psychic whose session i was given for my birthday 3 years ago told me i should be using Valor, Clarity, Release and Highest Potential. It just so happened that one of my best friends was a distributor. Now i love all the products so much i can’t keep my autoship under $150 just for my own personal use. I am supremely grateful to you Isis for being the answer to my prayer for guidance in business development.

Originaly the oils made my massage work more effective and easy. Then later Ningxia Red lowered my husbands cholersterol and we had found manuy daily uses for the products which enhanced our lives.

My work-a-world job disappeared on the last day of 2006. I have bills to pay immediately. I became certified as a personal care aide which is pharmaceutics. My mother had emergency quadrupedal bypass surgery. My father died of the very end of 2005. I’m the oldest of nine siblings. I’m estranged from my biological family because of choices in pursuing alternative methods of care.
They hold me suspect to their mainstay choices. I have a deep inner-drive. I received Reiki attunements. I was breifly introduced to Young Living Essential Oils in 2005. I had no idea of their difference from other essential oils. My life moved rapidly. Throughout my father’s dying time, I utilized Reiki to support my well-being.
I received soft tissue injury from being hit while in my vehicle. I lost the car.
I joined Young Living TO CARE FOR MYSELF.
Joined over the inner net at the public library. Not enough time for reading all the fine print. Became a independent distributor with the 7 oils kit. Received them the same time my first client was dying. Finally in August I really started to use the oils consistently and NingXia Red. Last January I was at my wits end as to how to make ends meet. I heard myself say, “Am I suppose to kill myself.” Terrified myself. There is suicide in my family. RutaVaLa became available. Using this blend strengthened my resolve to become alive. I decided to develop my independent distributorship. I outloaded my possessions to finance getting to the Grand Convention in Minneapolis this Sept. The last time I was on a plane was 1979. I attended my first convention. I saw Isis on stage. I heard of Essential Oils Success University on a tele-conference call. So here I am learning to care for myself well.
I imagine the health and well-being of my biological family, friends and associates, broader community.
I’m educationing myself.
Self-esteem. I’m developing this.

I joined 1st time just for the oils, as I have Health related businesses. I joined this time for the same reason. I did not join for a business. I may now work towards that goal.
